Eades

contemporary abstract artist

I’ve reflected a lot recently on my art and my central message. Every time I paint it’s a reflection of my self love journey. It’s about me choosing myself over and over again. I utilize art as a coping skill to navigate the world around me.

Biography

Dailyn Eades, widely known as Dai (pronounced Day; yes, like the day.), was born January 19th, 1999. She originally received this nickname from her mother and would go on to hear over and over throughout her life that she resembled sunshine. This has become a central motif in her work. Dailyn’s unique perspective stems from a cumulation of adversities that she has faced throughout her life. She was diagnosed early on in life with Major Depressive Disorder. Although this has made her life difficult to say the least, it has brought her to the thing she loves most, painting. Dailyn began painting in February of 2022 as a therapeutic tool. She had other creative outlets growing up, from dabbling with fashion to playing the double bass in orchestra, but nothing clicked quite like a paint brush and canvas.

In her words, colors are the “Most Important Part of the Process.” She aims to use colors that reflect the feeling of basking in sunlight. Consequently, being outside is a large part of her process. Her best work is created outdoors, and for this reason most of her work is created in the spring and summer. As she is based out of Indianapolis, the fall and winters are quite bleak.

My Canvas

I specialize in acrylic on canvas & texturized mediums.

I have a special love for mixed media. Using different mediums helps me to express emotion by adding texture. Tactile is my most developed sense and I typically create art that makes you want to touch it.
